Meet Melika
How I was shaped
Melika Ali Zadeh, was born in Iran (1991) and grew up in Belgium.
Her passion for art and design started at a very young age. Growing up in an artistic family and being surrounded by art in all forms helped her in making choices about her studies. She graduated from KASK, Gent in 2018 as an Interior Designer with her specialisation in Conceptual Design. Being able to express herself through art has been a great blessing her life.
She is a designer who is eager to create and learn. When designing it is important for her to search for a balance in-between the shapes, the colours, the aesthetics and the context.
Her Middle Eastern roots has been a great help in shaping her vision about architecture and design. She never sees herself as “one person” from “one culture”, but more as a mixture of many cultures. Not fully belonging to one place and feeling a certain void has been making her search for a deeper meaning in everything. The spirit of her childhood memories from her birth country will always show in one way or the other in the designs she makes.
Having a story behind every design and giving it a part of her inner self with respect for the context is what she opts for.
